Jim- This one is entertaining. With this sentence as the stand-out star: ""You said right but you really meant write, didn't you?" I've always thought hearing and listening are two very different parts of the same coin, but had trouble differentiating between the two. Where I grew up, we had a singular word for it, and the two don't get defined into two separate meaning. I'm not sure what this means about the in-one-ear and out-the-other tendencies, but all I know is that when I hear, I don't always listen. And when I listen, I don't always hear. Your writing is a fun reminder of this. :)
