An additional factor is that the Hebrews did not have a concept of eternity/forever as we in the (Hellenized) West do. Here is a link to a paragraph on the subject.

Also, re the "mark of the beast", BEFORE one has the dubious "privilege" of receiving the mark, the candidate MUST verify a genuine worship of the image of the beast (Rev. 13:15).

I studied Dr Martin's material. Great stuff. I was recommending you to write on the topic for your readers.

Thanks, Jim, for jumping in and assisting others in understanding the answer to the question. The key is Seventh Day folks' worship on Saturday because it is the Jews Holy day. Sundays is the Gentiles day of worship and Saturday is the Jews. Many, if not most, Messianic fellowships do the same thing. As with all recordings of Jesus and His disciples, Sunday is the first workday in which they conducted important business. However, your point in worshiping Jesus every day IS the point. My concern with the Seventh Day group is much deeper regarding hidden beliefs, particularly how the group was started. Since you opened a can of worms, you might consider future writings on the history and roots of the Seventh Day Adventists. Just a thought.

Jim, this is well researched. I grew up in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. As Stephen remarked in his comment, the Adventists have unorthodox teachings, and these are the reason I left the church. As for observing Saturday, I think Jesus (and the New Testament as a whole) are clear that our rest is not in a day of the week, but in Christ Himself. This is similar to the resurrection, which the Jews believed in as a future event (John 11), but Jesus expanded it, saying He is the resurrection.
