Voices of disdain and frustration with those responsible for governing this great country are increasing in greater number and frequency. They include a broader, more extreme political spectrum than ever before. Truth has been set aside for the wide oppressive girth of personal agenda. Metaphorically speaking she mourns as her branches have been stripped bare and thrown away. Joy in the hearts of many has withered into despair. Fire has devoured the open pastures, flame has burned all the trees of the field, and even the beasts of the field cry out. The seed has shriveled, the storehouses are in shambles, and the barns are broken down. This is a picture of the American political/ societal culture present day.
What is The Lord's solution? It may sound all too simple to many but here goes: "Consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of The Lord and cry out to Him. Turn to Him with all your heart. Return to The Lord for He is merciful, slow to anger and great in kindness. He promises to send new wine and new grain. He will remove those who are doing you harm to a barren and desolate land. You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied. You will never be put to shame. He will pour out His Spirit and will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth. A fountain of life shall flow from The Lord."
This is what The Lord told the prophet Joel in 800 B.C. We can complain about injustice and inequality until we are blue in the face but the real power to change the hearts and minds of men lies in The Lord alone. We must all turn to Him and seek His wisdom and pray for our appointed leaders in government. After all. they are simply men and women like ourselves. Many who do not know The Lord seek their own personal agenda and the often aberrant philosophy of men. But there are many who do. The Lord listens and answers the prayers of the righteous and answers in His own time and circumstances. So let us put our feet to the fire and endeavor to make our requests known.
Oh, and don’t forget that when praying, there is strength in numbers. 😉

Perfect words of wisdom for the New Year, Jim.
People, it’s not complicated. It’s simple, and only as difficult as your own ego and lack of faith make it. We can live joyfully!!!
Been guilty myself of just seeking one who will mirror my worldview. It's a failing strategy. You hit the nail, Jim; not the easy, but the necessary strategy.
