My thoughts on the ‘Asbury Revival’: Who could object to a grass roots movement towards God IF that movement truly causes repentance and a changed life for Jesus Christ? An atheist, I suppose. On the other hand we certainly pray for revival, but understand that there will be no revival without true repentance. "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14. Nor will anyone experience salvation through osmosis simply by attending. The message must penetrate the heart and quicken the spirit. I have experienced a few of these movements in my life and have found that many attendees quietly fade away and the emotional sermons are quickly forgotten. I pray that will not be the case this time. Time will tell. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” John 6:6.
