Recently as I was perusing YouTube for something mentally challenging (and free) to watch, I stumbled upon this July 2016 video (posted below). The title caught my eye: A debate between Bill Nye, the science guy and Christian apologist Ken Ham. As I began to watch I discovered it was compelling for several reasons:
I find the story of Noah’s Ark fascinating. So does Hollywood apparently with their most recent reinterpretation starring Russell Crowe. That one did not do well with audiences as it strayed far, far away from anything resembling the Biblical account, seemingly poking fun with rocks that talk.
I watched Bill Nye years ago on occasion to appease scientific curiosities I had which he did manage to portray in a creative way. Unfortunately he was indirectly antagonistic to anything written in ancient manuscripts complied as the Bible we have today. Nye has a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University.
I’ve seen several debates with Ken Ham and listened to his compelling arguments revolving around the book of Genesis which I believe are accurate, hence I am biased. Ham had a Bachelor of Applied Science from Queensland University of Technology.
The entirety of the video takes place at the Ark Encounter in Kentucky. Fortunately you don’t have to travel to Mt. Ararat. As Ken and Bill walk through the display, Bill will comment on things he believes violates common sense and his grasp of science. Ken will respond by pointing him to Holy Scripture and where history intersects the Biblical accounts. I won’t say anymore so as not to spoil any surprises.
I do think there is much to learn from their dialogue. In effect, what they didn’t say, how they communicated what they did say, and the unnecessary rabbit trails which ensued.
Oh, and they’ve both written a lot of books.😉💰
Here’s the video. Enjoy a tour through Noah’s Ark:

I do. Before the flood, the earth was totally covered with a cloud canopy, which made the temperatures ideal - like living in a green house. To manifest the flood, God broke the canopy. Resulting in sever climate temperature change - freezing, AND dessert conditions. When the waters flooded the whole of the earth, the core of the earth reacted to the temperature change, thus, erupted in a seismic reaction - melted rock poured to the surface (earthquakes and volcanic eruptions). This reaction affected the temperatures of the atmosphere, resulting in the polar points freezing dramatically, which at the time spread as far south as the northern hemisphere. The debate is over the time frame this took. While the science world claims thousands of years, the flood accomplished instantaneously - probably within a few short years.
Great review. I had the privilege of spending a week with Ken. One of his protégées served on my Board for many years. While his premise is evangelistic and Biblically accurate, he tends to formulate his debts on "beliefs" of premise versus faith. I have utmost respect for Ken. However, as most brilliant people, their minds tend to validate, or not, according to the intellectual comprehensions, which puts the focus on "beliefs." The morsel that Ken and others tend to forget is - Creation Evangelism is 100% based on faith. Meaning, unless one is indwelt by the mind of Christ, and houses the Faith of Christ, creation ideologies are fruitless to a dead and depraved minds. This is why my Board member and I started the Creation Evangelism model. Which starts with faith - not belief. Remembering, nothing is accomplished without faith.
Just some thoughts from my brain to yours.
